Serving Our Neighbors

Picture
Feed Our Neighbors in Need
February 7 - March 1
We are partnering this month with Faith Alliance to Feed Our Neighbors in Need. Here is a list of high-need items requested by Faith Community United Methodist Food Pantry.
  • Canned pineapple
  • Canned mandarin oranges
  • Jarred pasta sauce
  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Toothbrush/toothpaste
  • Laundry detergent
There are many food items that food pantries can receive at very low cost ($0.26 per pound) so cash donations are very helpful to buy these. You can donate directly here: thefaithalliance.com/feed-our-neighbor. These donations will go to Reach Out Lakota.

Pick up a bag in the Gathering Area if you wish. Food drive concludes on Sunday, March 1. For more information, contact Susan.

Family Promise
Join with faith communities from around Butler County in providing temporary housing for homeless families. Families stay at Christ the King several times a year for a week at a time.  You are invited to participate by setting up/taking down bedrooms, preparing meals, helping with homework, spending the night with families, and caring for linens. Learn more about Family Promise. Contact Susan for more information.

Stepping Forward Community Dinners
Second Tuesday of alternating months
Christ the King volunteers join with Faith Alliance volunteers to prepare food, host dinner, clean up, and read to children at Faith Community United Methodist Church six times each year.  Stepping Forward is a weekly program that provides not just a meal, but specific skills, tools, and support so that community members can move out of poverty to a higher level of self sufficiency. Learn more about Stepping Forward.
