Special Earth Day Event: Gardening with Nature

10:00 am - noon Join us for a Special Earth Day Event with guest speaker Jennifer Smith, an award-winning pollinator garden designer with Wimberg Landscaping. Jennifer will give a 45-minute talk followed by a Q&A on "Gardening with Nature," with practical tips you can take home to benefit your yard and the planet. Light refreshments will be served. This event is hosted by Christ the King's Creation Care ministry and Women of the ELCA (WELCA). A freewill offering will be taken to support The Common Orchard Project. Jennifer Smith is an award-winning pollinator garden designer who has been with Wimberg Landscaping for more than six years. The Wimberg Landscaping office pollinator gardens , and the Wimberg Landscaping Focal Garden at Ault Park, for which she designed the plant sections, received silver level awards from the Ohio Green Industry Association in 2023. Jennifer studied Horticulture and Landscape Design at the University of Cincinnati, wrote for Horticulture magazine, and was the garden writer and photographer for the Civic Garden Center of Greater Cincinnati. For many years she was the coordinator of the Adopt-a-Plot gardens at Ault Park where she has designed and maintained as many as five gardens including heading the redesign of the Wimberg Landscaping Focal Garden.
The Common Orchard Project is a community-based orchard development program, working to establish 100+ orchards across Greater Cincinnati over the next 10 years. The Common Orchard Project hopes to build awareness of the challenges of food insecurity facing many families in Cincinnati and Hamilton County. Through their work they would like to build more resilient neighborhoods, stronger communities, and a more equitable future. |
