Earth Day Celebration 2023

Get ready for Christ the King’s first Earth Day Celebration.
You're invited to explore and participate in the different ways we are caring for the earth at Christ the King.

Join us for the whole celebration or just come to activities that interest you.
In case of bad weather, activities will be moved inside.

8:00 - 11:00 am - Work in the Community Harvest Garden
Bring your work shoes and gloves and help fill the raised beds in Children's Garden with soil. We'll also be planting vegetables, weeding beds, and continuing work on new guest gardener beds. Get your creative juices flowing and paint a planting container.
11:45 am - 12: 30 pm - Enjoy a light lunch in the courtyard
11:00 - 11:45 am - Tour the grounds
Amazing things are happening in our back yard! Join our lead gardeners for a tour of the Community Harvest Garden, Permaculture Food Forest, Forest Restoration project, and the Prairie Garden.
12:30 - 1:00 pm - Community Composting
Learn how we are composting at Christ the King, and how you can incorporate these techniques on your own. You're welcome to bring plant-based food scraps, coffee grounds, grass clipping, and other "green" materials to add to our compost area.
1:00 - 3:00 pm - Fill pots with soil for Monarch Fest seedlings

Help us to fill small pots with soil which will be used in transplanting the 500 seedlings that we're growing for Monarch Fest. These plants will be given away during the event on Saturday, June 3.
