Thursday, April 17, 6:00 - 7:30 pm Break bread and worship together, sharing the Lord’s Supper in fellowship around a common table, just as the first disciples did with our Lord Jesus. Bring a potluck item to share. Good Friday
Interactive Stations of the Cross Friday, April 18, 10:00 am - 9:00 pm Pause, pray, interact & reflect at each station - at your own pace. Intended for all ages. Participants choose either a printed guide or audio recording which takes them through the scripture reading of Jesus’ passion. There are 14 stations, each with a unique hands-on activity, such as hammering nails into a plank of wood. |
Easter Vigil
Saturday, April 19, 5:00 - 7:00 pm New Fire, stories of salvation, communion. Come and go as you are able. Children might especially enjoy the stories, shared in many creative ways during the first hour or so. The service takes place in 4 parts: Service of LIght We gather outside to start the service, lighting the New Fire and watching it burn, lighting the new Paschal (Easter) Candle. Processing inside, the assembly gathers around the baptismal font with individual candles lit from the same flame, to hear again the ancient Exsultet chant. Stories of Salvation Noah’s Ark, Creation, Crossing the Red Sea, Jonah in the Whale… The great Old Testament stories are presented in a variety of ways, storyteller fashion, with plenty of light-hearted audience participation and musical responses. Recall sitting around a campfire, telling stories under the stars. Thanksgiving for Baptism We gather around the font to remember our Baptism with a sprinkling of water that joins us to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Alleluias and Holy Communion We sing the first alleluias of Easter, lights come up, and the celebration of Jesus’ Resurrection begins, as we sing and share Communion with one another. |
