Child In Our Hands

Child in Our Hands can best be described as an initiative and a vision that delineates how we understand our ministry of supporting families and nurturing relationships of faith for all generations. Child in Our Hands is not a separate "program" of the church, but gives strong direction to the programs we offer.

These are some of the activities that have grown out of "Child in Our Hands" vision:

  • "Used Bibles" are bibles given to children that have been marked and signed by other members of the congregation, who share their favorite scriptures.
  • Parent/Child Bible skills classes
  • First Communion is taught as a Parent/Child activity
  • "Secret Grandparents" connect mid-week program children to older congregational members in a fun way.
  • A scrapbook event helps those who have enjoyed church milestones record the story and the pictures for years to come

Child in Our Hands asks how it is that God reaches out to people, creates faith in us, and calls us out as a unique people of God

Safe Haven

"Safe Haven" refers to the official policy of the congregation that establishes procedures to insure the safety of all who participate in programs and ministries at Christ the King. All staff, employees and volunteers who work with children are required to attend a training session to become familiar with Safe Haven procedures. Anyone who regularly has "unsupervised" contact with children - that is, in a one-on-one setting, - undergoes a criminal background check through the State of Ohio. We give our best efforts to staff programs with children in a way that adults are not alone with children without the parent's knowledge and permission.
